At Emusic I oversaw our link campaign. We had rows
of interns on computers working from lists that I gave
them.
An example of such a list might be: the search results
for "my music site" on Alta Vista.
The interns added the pertinent info into a database:
the url of the site, the name of the site & the email
address.
We would then launch emails using that database asking
for either a text link or a graphic
link.
The emails would draw information from the database to
make a form letter look like it was personalized for only
them.
We had an average of 18%
success rate in getting people to add a link to us!
